Child was among 2 hurt when hit by personal watercraft July 6 on Lanier

POSTED: July 21, 2012 8:33 p.m.

The 11-year-old boy seriously injured July 6 in a boating accident on Lake Lanier has died, the state Department of Natural Resources has confirmed.

The youngster died Saturday at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egelston, where he had been treated for his injuries following the accident.

Atlanta media reports identified him as Kile Glover, the son of singer Usher’s former wife, Tameka Foster.

The boy and a 15-year-old girl were hurt when the inner tube they were riding while being pulled by a pontoon boat was run over by a man on a personal watercraft.

The driver of the personal watercraft, Jeffrey S. Hubbard, 38, of Atlanta, was not charged in the accident. The DNR has said alcohol did not appear to be a factor.

The accident occurred in the mouth of Big Creek near Holiday Marina.

The boy was unresponsive when pulled from the lake. He is the sixth fatality on the lake this summer.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, DNR spokeswoman Melissa Cummings said Saturday in a news release.
