Flowery Branch graduate and University of South Carolina track athlete Erika Rucker won a gold medal Sunday in the World Junior Championships in Barcelona as part of the US women’s 4x400 relay team.

Rucker, who won a bronze medal in the 400 earlier in the meet, helped the US finish at 3 minutes, 30.01 seconds, nearly three seconds faster than the second-place finisher Jamaica.

Other US team members included Olivia Ekpone, Kendall Baisden and Ashley Spencer.
