Hayes, Woodard headed to USATF Nationals

Rising juniors Sara Hayes and Marcquel Woodard of Gainesville High competed in the USATF Junior Olympic Track and Field Regional Championships last weekend in Newport News, Va.

Hayes brought home a silver medal, finishing second in the heptathalon, and Woodard finished third in the 800 meter with a personal record of 1 minute, 57.02 seconds.

Both students will compete in the national championships July 23-29 in Baltimore, Md.

There will be a fish fry fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Gainesville to support Woodard.
