Your Views: Nation needs prayers to bring us more effective leadership

POSTED: July 5, 2012 1:00 a.m.

Back during Apollo 13’s disaster in outer space, prayers went up by the millions. The Catholic Pope had millions praying. The priests in Jerusalem had thousands praying. Many other countries had their people praying for the Apollo 13 crew.

During the attack on 9/11 at the twin towers in New York. Prayers went up by the millions. Patriotism was at an all-time high.

Nowadays people sitting during a parade on Memorial Day or any other day won’t even stand as the flag passes by, much less put their hand over their heart as a salute.

We are definitely living in perilous times. Our great country as we use to know her is just about a thing of the past. We as voters have allowed such corruption to enter our most high offices and defile and change the laws to protect those who are illegal and law-breakers to the point of nearly bankrupting this country.

We don’t vote with our conscious anymore and we definitely don’t vote with our hearts, either. What a mess we have allowed to take place because we have kicked God out of our most high places. God isn’t asked for leadership by our officials any more; instead they have literally kicked him out.

My main question is where are all the prayers now? It is a time when we need them most, especially with this most important election coming up in November. I am afraid that if we don’t take America back in November, then we have lost her for good.

I don’t think any country will have to try and take us by force; more of this kind of leadership we will simply give it away. What a legacy to leave our kids and grandkids, pitiful isn’t it? Where are the prayers?
