The 8-and-under Clermont A’s finished a successful season on Monday in Barrow County with a 20-3 win over Dawson County for the Dizzy Dean baseball District 6 championship. With the win, the team ended the season with a 27-10 record.
The A’s, comprised of students from Wauka Mountain, Mount Vernon, and Martin Elementary, finished in first place in both the Who’s on First and the Fastball 2012 tournaments in Monroe. The team placed second out of 16 teams in the Central Park Athletic Association tournament, although they were not able to play for the championship due to rain.
The A’s also placed second in the Georgia USSSA state tournament by beating a previously undefeated team.
