Delays add $151,000 to cost of Forsyth County water plant expansion project

POSTED: June 20, 2012 11:30 p.m.

The expansion of Forsyth County’s water treatment plant is about three months behind schedule.

Barry Lucas, deputy director of water and sewer, said the delay will result in an additional $151,000 being paid to hired project manager CH2MHill.

The contractor, Garney Construction, is more than 100 days past the scheduled completion date of April 2, Lucas said.

Officials have attributed the delays to unforeseen technical issues.

The change was discussed at a Monday meeting of the water and sewer committee, which includes County Commissioners Patrick Bell and Brian Tam.
