POSTED: June 11, 2012 7:23 p.m.

More than 175 tennis players and spectators convened May 18-20 in Flowery Branch for Sterling on the Lake’s Fourth Annual Member-Guest Tennis Tournament .

Through sponsorships, entry fees and a silent auction, the three-day tournament raised $10,000 for Hemophilia of Georgia, making it the largest amount in four years.

“This year’s tournament was the biggest yet,” said Scott Squillace, Chairman of Sterling on the Lake’s tennis committee, “and as a Sterling resident and tennis player, I am happy that we can hold this tournament every year to raise money for Hemophilia of Georgia.”

Vic McCarty from Hemophilia of Georgia was in attendance for the tournament.

“This is always a great event and we love to see fundraising on such a local level,” he said. “The generous support received from the event will help to send campers to Camp Wannaklot this summer."

This year’s winners were Andrea Del Valle and Marielena Zambrano, Marielba Ahmed and Susan Sheppard, Tricia Kerul and Gaby Castaldo, Kathy Anglin and Jennifer Zimmerman, April Curlee and Gail Lightsey, Michael Richards and Brandon Sloan, Joe Anglin and Bao Dang, Derek Oates and Karl Oates, Joel Nevins and Jeff Nevins, and Ferrell Curlee and Larry Smosny.

The tournament is open to all residents of Sterling on the Lake and a non-resident partner of their choice. The teams were divided into ten brackets with every level of tennis represented from beginners to pros.
