The Helen Police Department is investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old and 20-year-old dead Sunday.
White County Deputy Coroner Jim Etheridge identified the victims as Karly Nicole Patterson, 18, and Kyle Kerr, 20.
Helen Police Chief Ted Ray did not return calls seeking comment Monday; other employees at the department also declined to comment.
Patterson was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m.; Kerr died later at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Etheridge said.
White County Sheriff Neal Walden said the county agency was not involved in the investigation, but deputies helped secure a scene near the annual Oktoberfest celebrations after the shooting.
