North Georgia softball earns No. 1 seed in regional tournament

For the fourth year in a row the North Georgia College & State University softball team has earned a No. 1 seed and will host a 2012 NCAA Division-II Regional this weekend.

Currently ranked No. 11 in the country, the Lady Saints have a 45-8 record, and are on the verge of winning 50 games for a fourth straight season.

Coming to Dahlonega this weekend will be the No. 4 seed Augusta State, No. 5 seed Columbus State and the No. 8 seed King College.

North Georgia will host an NCAA Super Regional next weekend if they win three games this weekend and advance.

The double-elimination tournament will start at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, with Augusta State versus Columbus State, to be followed by the Lady Saints and King College at 6 p.m.

Tickets will be $6 for adults and $4 for students. Children under the age of 3 will be admitted free.
