Piedmont president to perform organ concert

Dr. James Mellichamp, interim president and provost at Piedmont College, will perform a concert of organ music at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the Piedmont College Chapel on the Demorest campus.

Mellichamp will perform, “Forgotten Favorites: Organ Music from 1900-1950.” The lesser-known pieces were written by composers who were among the most important in their day.

Mellichamp has a performance career spanning more than 40 years. He has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, including solo recitals at the Washington Cathedral, Berlin Cathedral and the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris.

The program includes works by Joseph Jongen and a three-movement piece by Alberto Ginastera.
