Young Harris softball falls to Erskine

The Young Harris College softball team fell to Erskine College 5-3 and 8-6 in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon at the Erskine Softball Complex in Due West, S.C.

The Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of game one, scoring an unearned run on a fielder’s choice.

But Erskine took advantage of three Young Harris errors to score five runs in the fifth inning.

In game two, the Mountain Lions took a 4-0 lead, scoring twice in both the first and second innings. Paige Sexton had an RBI double for Young Harris and Jones contributed an RBI single in the first. The Mountain Lions added two unearned runs in the second as they made the most of three Erskine errors.

Erskine responded by scoring seven runs off Young Harris in the bottom of the third.

Young Harris visits Berry College at 3 p.m. Wednesday for a doubleheader in Mount Berry.
