Fallen tree leaves 4,700 without power

POSTED: April 10, 2012 11:30 p.m.

Some 4,700 customers for Jackson EMC lost power Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on a line in South Hall.

The tree fell near Spout Springs Road shortly after 4 p.m., knocking out three circuits at a substation on the road.

Most of the affected customers lived in the South Hall areas near Union Church Road in Chestnut Mountain and Spout Springs Road in Flowery Branch.

Within the hour, Jackson EMC was able to restore power to most of the customers, but some waited until nearly 7:45 p.m. for restored service, according to the company’s website.
