Gainesville City Council approved resolutions both to spend some money and try to collect some, too, Tuesday night.
In a short council meeting — about 11 minutes long — elected officials approved five Gainesville Public Utilities projects ranging from sewer improvements to pipe relocation for road construction. All told, the five projects would cost $3.1 million.
The city also accepted a state grant of about $13,000 to help the Gainesville Police Department pay for 49 bulletproof vests and agreed to apply for two other grants, including one that could fund two additional police officer positions.
Each of the projects and grant applications was discussed in detail at a work session last week.
