Piedmont baseball tops Centre College, 12-5

For the second straight game against Centre College, the Piedmont College baseball team fell behind 3-0 after the first half inning, but rallied for a 12-5 win Monday night in Demorest. No. 7 Lions (16-5) recorded three consecutive bases-loaded walks in the second to come back to take a 4-3 lead. Matt Lisk pitched three innings for Piedmont before being lifted in the fourth for freshman Chris Goershel.

Five Lions had a two-hit night, led by Kyle Davis and Curtis Cornett, who added four and three RBI, respectively. Josh Bailey drove in a pair of runs for Piedmont, while Ethan Miers, Matt Youtsey and Tate Koons had two hits each.

The Lions open Great South Athletic Conference play with a three-game set with visiting Covenant College, beginning Thursday night at 7 p.m.
