From the Sunday morning comic strips to television and the big screen and now the community theater stage in Flowery Branch, the "Peanuts" gang is winning over the hearts of a new generation.

Fifth Row Center performers are gearing up for their two-week run of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown." The family-friendly musical comedy is based on the classic "Peanuts" comic strip created by Charles Schulz.

"Some of the scenes are right out of the comic strip," said Melissa Chapman, Fifth Row's media representative.

The group describes their show as "perfect for all ages and anyone who roots for Charlie Brown to get that kite to fly or for piano-loving Schroeder to finally return Lucy's affection."

The Flowery Branch production will feature all of the gang - Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder and of course, Woodstock.

"You'll get to see a lot of the classic moments, like Linus and his blanket and Lucy in love with Schroeder," Chapman said.

The weekend performances, directed by Bob Rinfret, will be held in the Fifth Row Center Studio, 5509 Main St. in Flowery Branch.

The show opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday and closes with a final performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 18. The group will have a single showing on Fridays and Sundays, but two performances on Saturdays.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students and children.

With only 45 seats available per performance, Fifth Row staff recommends reserving tickets in advance by calling the company's office or visiting its website.

"We have a very intimate theater, which makes it kind of special," Chapman said.

"It's small, so it's up close and everyone is a part of the show."

Fifth Row Center is a nonprofit, community theater group that was founded about four years ago by Scot and Donna Chalmers as an outlet for thespians in south Hall County and the surrounding areas.

"Our mission is to provide family-friendly entertainment using the talent found right here in our community," Chapman said.

The group's next production will be "Steel Magnolias" in May featuring an all-female cast. Auditions for that show will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
