DAHLONEGA — One of the best-loved "battle of the sexes" is back, with Wild West flare. Cowboy boots, whips and lassos give a biting punch to a classic.

North Georgia College & State University's Department of Performing Arts presents the National Players' production of "The Taming of the Shrew" at the Historic Holly Theater at 8 p.m. Feb. 23. Tickets are $25 or free to the first 150 North Georgia ID holders.

Sparring lovers Kate and Petruchio duke it out on the western frontier. Will they ride off into the sunset or die trying? The verbal duel never stops as National Players presents one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies.

Founded in 1949, National Players is America's longest running touring company. Made up of young professional actors, each year the company travels throughout the country performing two plays in repertory - one Shakespearean play and one dramatic classic.

National Players has performed in the East Wing of the White House; in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East for American military; and throughout 40 states.

Committed to the development of young theatrical talent and audiences, National Players' tours celebrate the experience of theatergoing by presenting the world's greatest dramatic literature.
