DAHLONEGA — North Georgia College & State University's nationally recognized Golden Eagle Band will be performing free shows throughout Northeast Georgia this spring, presenting its annual large-scale production, this year called "Magick."

As the name suggests, "Magick" is both a musical and visual exploration of all things magical: sorcery, illusions, dark magic, humorous magic, magic shows, magic hats and even the magic of Ben Folds.

This drum corps-style show features the music of Igor Stravinsky, Ben Folds, Camille Saint-Säens, Sting, Paul Dukas, Modest Mussorgsky and the Foo Fighters.

"Magick" opens with a movement featuring the band's percussion and the second movement, "Firebird" is a high-energy piece performed by the entire ensemble.

A color guard feature, a snare/marimba duel, a brass feature, and music by KT and the Hot Wheels also appear in "Magick." All shows are free and open to the public and last about 45 minutes.

The Golden Eagle Band has been invited to perform again at Walt Disney World in Florida.

The Golden Eagle Band is the oldest college marching band in Georgia and one of the oldest in the United States.

The Golden Eagle Band has evolved from a traditional military band into its present form, which is most correctly described as an American drum and bugle corps.
