No. 25: Another rabies case reported in Hall County

Case is the second one this week in North Hall

For the second time this week, a case of rabies has been confirmed in a raccoon in North Hall.

According to Hall County Animal Control, a raccoon encountered a dog Tuesday on Shockley Road in the northeast corner of the county. Thursday afternoon, the Georgia Public Health Lab verified that the raccoon was carrying the rabies virus.

This marked the county's 25th case of rabies this year. The majority of cases have been in North Hall, and most have occurred in raccoons.

Anyone who observes an animal behaving strangely is urged to call Animal Control at 770-531-6830.
The Humane Society of Hall County will offer a rabies vaccination clinic from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the county animal shelter on West Ridge Road.

Shots cost $10. Dogs and cats must be at least 3 months old and must be on leashes or restrained in a carrier.
