Art with Heart helps pets find homes

POSTED: February 16, 2012 1:30 a.m.

Bark if you like art. Or music. Or animals.

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will be hosting Art with Heart, a benefit art auction, from 7-10 p.m. Friday.

This is the third year for the fundraising event with all proceeds benefiting the shelter’s operations and the animals in its care.

The benefit will take place at the Elks Club in Gainesville, located on Riverside Drive. The event will feature fine art, folk art, pottery, fine woodworking, sculpture and other types of artwork donated by renowned national and regional artists.

Local artists Amanda Carder, Travis Massey and John Kollock have all donated special pieces for the event. All artwork will be available for silent auction.

Art with Heart will showcase a special musical performance by singer-songwriter and Gainesville native Allen Nivens.

Ticket price includes heavy hor d’oeuvres and a complimentary wine bar. Handcrafted pieces by Atlanta-based jewelry designer Ann Finley also will be available for purchase during the event with a portion of the proceeds benefiting HSNEGA.

All proceeds from Art with Heart will support animal rescue and adoption programs and the shelter’s work to end companion animal overpopulation and suffering.

Tickets for the event are $40 per person. A limited number of tickets are available for the event. Tickets can be purchased by calling 770-532-6617.
