The Hall County Animal Shelter is offering pet lovers a unique opportunity this weekend when they host the Puppy Love Photo Session on Jan. 28.

Program coordinator for the shelter Cindy Langman said the fundraiser event would hopefully help generate revenue for the public supported nonprofit.

"Because we are tax-payer funded, we are always trying to figure out ways to save taxpayer money. We hold regular adoption events and rabies clinics to raise money, but this is our first time doing a photo session," Langman said.

"I think this is something the community can really get something from. We see so many people at the shelter who are passionate about their pets. And passionate about adopting pets," she said.

Langman said there will be a photographer on hand from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to take photos. Different packages will be available, and pet owners have various options for poses.

"The photo session is just in time for Valentine's Day," Langman said. "The pictures will be in before the holiday, and would make great cards to send out."

Reservations must be made by 1 p.m. Friday.

In addition to the photo session, the shelter has several other initiatives designed to raise funds and help continue services. The annual Pet Fest in the fall is a bigger event, according to Langman. Also, there is a bass fishing tournament, and regular adoption events and rabies clinics.

The Puppy Love Photo Session will be held on Saturday at the Hall County Animal Shelter, located at 1688 Barber St., in Gainesville. To get more information, or to schedule a session, contact either the Animal Shelter at 678-450-1587, or the Hall County Parks and Leisure Service at 770-535-8280.
