Award-winning baritone, pianist to perform at Piedmont

Baritone Matthew Markham and pianist Wei-En Hsu will perform at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Piedmont College Chapel in Demorest.

Markham teaches voice at New York University and is a baritone soloist in the U.S and internationally. He is an art song specialist, performing and teaching the works of composers of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Markham has appeared on many operatic, concert and recital stages, including Suk Hall at the Rodolfium in Prague, Czech Republic. He has won various competitions, including the Westminister Choir College Graduate Voice Competition and the Regional MacAllister Awards. 

Hsu has performed in the U.S., Europe and Asia since completing his master’s degree at the Julliard School in New York City. He has received awards that include the Scott Huxley Accompaniment Prize, Sir Aurthur Bliss Prize and Ludmilla Andrew Russian Song Prize Accompaniment Award.

Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for seniors and students. Piedmont College students, faculty and staff are admitted free.
