he Colonel William Candler Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution recently was honored for having the most new members in one year. The Georgia State Society of the DAR awarded them with a silver bowl for the achievement. The chapter also celebrated with an "Over 100 Members" luncheon. The new members are Christine Lanzing, Linda Martin, Marilyn Martin, Mary Lynne George, Abbe Kubit and Florence Truman.

The chapter also appointed new officers:

  • Regent: Marcie Fletcher
  • First vice regent: Bea Fischer
  • Second vice regent: Barbara Stevens
  • Chaplain: Gail Clayton
  • Recording secretary: Julie Hawk
  • Corresponding secretary: Alice Brock
  • Treasurer: Jeane Parker
  • Registrar: Nancy Baumgardner
  • Historian: Margaret Ellett
  • Librarian: Julia Ridley

Army Pvt. Jamil H. Moore has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Moore is the son of Gwendolyn Moore of Sugar Hill.

Army Pvt. Ian Jones has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Lance Jones of Flowery Branch and Cessany Montcrior of Carrollton.
