Doctors often are judged by their bedside manners, but Tuesday they will be critiqued for something else: their ability to entertain.

This year, the Good News Clinics will play host to "The Physician Talent Review" in conjunction with the nonprofit's fall fundraising dinner.

"Every year, we try to have something different for entertainment," said Jean Peeples, Good News administrative assistant.

"This year, we decided to have a physician's talent review. It will feature physicians from our medical community and friends, who will bring to the stage a variety of musical talent."

The fundraiser is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Seot. 13 in the First Baptist Church of Gainesville Banquet Hall, 751 Green St. NW, Gainesville.

During the dinner, Good News staff will also be handing out the Dr. Sam Poole Volunteer of the Year Award presented to an "outstanding volunteer."

"(Poole) is the one that got the clinic started," Peeples said. "He was our medical director from 1993 until his death in 2006."

Individual tickets are $50 for person, or a table for eight reserved for $400. There are also silver and gold sponsorships available for $1,000 and $2,500, respectively.

Each sponsorship level includes a table for eight, but the gold level includes "preferred seating."

Proceeds from the fundraiser are used to support the clinic, which offers free medical and dental care to indigent and low-income people in Hall County who lack health insurance or the means to pay for care.
