Political correctness forces Southern traditions to sidelines

POSTED: July 7, 2011 1:00 a.m.

Have you heard what Bill O'Reily said on Fox News recently? A school in New York City can't mention religion, so the children are singing "When the ants go marching in."

Isn't that disgusting? I am so tired of the words "politically correct." Are we going to lose all our Southern traditions? I sat many times in Sanford Stadium waiting for the University of Georgia Redcoat Band to march into the stadium playing "Dixie."

Wouldn't you love to hear that again, and how about "Old Man River" and the poem "Song of the Chattachoochee"? It runs through our county.

I will be 91 in July and in the near future, I will march with the Saints into heaven to meet my Lord, my husband, my son and daughters and other families.

May God bless our county, state and nation.
