County tax increase already was decided before public meeting

POSTED: June 10, 2011 1:00 a.m.

Let me start off by saying that I would like to think the tax increase would not pass, but unfortunately, it's already too late. It's already passed.

This issue is not something that just dropped out of the sky; this has been an ongoing issue and could have been seen long ago. The public meetings are just a way to inform the residents of Hall County that their property taxes will be increasing.

It is obvious that the county commission had already studied services that would be cut in order to justify their decision months ago. Again, this is not something that just dropped out of the sky. This particular increase can be thought of as more wasteful spending by our wonderful leaders.

Hopefully, this idea will create five new jobs though or else we can be seen as the new Gwinnett County in the very near future.

Let me end by asking: I see that parks and libraries are on the so-called chopping block. So if we cannot afford them, why are we still building them?
