Local golf: Hollobaugh takes first in CLGA event

Ann Hollobaugh took first place in low gross and Violet Reynolds was first in low net score when the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played an individual low gross, low net event Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Beulah Land was second in low gross, while Peggy Hall was second in low net.

In the second flight, Bea Fischer won first in low gross and Nora Gleason in low net.

Jackie Sommerville was second in low gross and Jeanne Tompkins was second in low net.

Closest to the pin winners were Hall (No. 3) and Hollobaugh (No. 17).

LUNA'S TUESDAY GROUP: The team of Larry Cleek, Randy Gordy, Anthony Barrett and Jim Cornett took first place when the Luna's Tuesday golf group played at the Orchard in Clarkesville this week.

Second place went to the team of Al Whittington, Gary Friedenberg, Frank House and Don Rogers.

Third place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Tom Sexton, Tommy Lowery and Tom Coleman.

Closest to the pin winners were Gordy (No. 2), Whittington (No. 7), House (No. 11) and Cleek (No. 13).

CMGA: Stan Davidson Jr., Harry Barnett, Denny Momper and Stu Virgin took first place when the Chattahoochee Men's Golf Association played a three-best-ball, aggregated net strokes game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Second place went to Marty Anderson, Don Sorrell, Roy Lyle and Guy Long.

Roy Bartlett, Bob Henderson, Eddie Johnson and Wayne Nelson took third.

Closest to the pin winners were Doug Van (No. 3), Paul Payne (No. 5), Bartlett (No. 12) and Lyle (No. 17).

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT: Leroy Harper, Mike Stokes and Lou Vega teamed to shoot 22-under par to win a two best-ball, net event this week at Chicopee Woods.

Roger Stapp, Joe Roberts and Darrel Pinner took second at 20-under.

Duane Roberts had the lowest net score of the day at 64, followed by Harper's 65.

Stapp and Cleve Sexton tied for third at 67.
