Virginia wins rowing title at Lanier

With a time of 5 minutes, 48.7 seconds, Virginia beat Michigan (5:49.5) to win the Men’s Varsity Eight Grand race in the American Collegiate Rowing National Championships on Sunday on Lake Lanier.

Among state colleges competiting, Georgia Tech took first place in the Women’s Varsity 4 Petite with a time of 7:46.5. The Lady Jackets also won the Women’s Novice 4 with a time of 8:23.5.

In the Women’s JV/Lightweight 8 Grand, the Lady Jackets took second with a time of 7:04.2.

Tech’s men also placed second in the men’s Varsity Four Grand with a time of 6:30.9.

Georgia took second in the Men’s Novice 4 with a time of 7:12.5, and second in the Women’s Novice 4 Grand with a time of 8:14.
