This year, North Georgia art lovers will have a chance to enjoy a striking display of talent throughout the summer.

The Department of Visual Arts at North Georgia College & State University has invited art educators from schools across the state of Georgia to showcase a recent work of art, along with work created by a student of merit.

Always a roaring success, the exhibition involves the community at large and aims to strengthen links among all levels of art education.

The media represented range from acrylic on canvas and photography to mixed media works that incorporate wire and Plexiglas.

The schools participating in the exhibit are Lumpkin County, Gainesville, North Gwinnett, North Atlanta, Cairo, Pickens, Habersham Central and East Cowetta high schools along with Riverside Military Academy. Three middle schools, Woodstock Middle, Teasley Middle and Woodward Academy Middle schools, are represented this year as well.

Patricia Williams, renowned tapestry weaver working in the North Georgia area, will serve as juror. A highly experienced art teacher and graphic designer, Williams currently works in her studio fulltime. Her creations are distinguished for their craftsmanship and humor.

On the reception night, Williams will be awarding Best in Show prizes and honorable mentions for educators and students. She will also give a brief talk about the exhibition.
