The Colonel William Candler chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently held its annual awards tea.

The following high school seniors received Good Citizens Awards: Jordan Harrison of Lakeview Academy, Misty Noll of North Hall High School, Evelyn Murray of Gainesville High School, Miranda Williamson (not pictured) of East Hall High School, Janna Jones of Johnson High School and Daniel Farmer of Westminster Christian School.

The following eighth-graders received Good Citizenship Awards: Paul White Jr. of Chestatee Middle School, Magen Lowry of West Hall Middle School, Rebekah Benton of C.W. Davis Middle School, Molly Gay of Lakeview Academy, Keri Jones (not pictured) of East Hall Middle School, Edgar Rojas of Lumpkin County Middle School, Amanda Shadburn of South Hall Middle School, Rachel Wright of North Hall Middle School, Patrick Kelley of Gainesville Middle School and Anna Goode of Westminster Christian School.

The following students received Junior American Citizen Awards: Essay, Jonathan Perez and Averi Smith; Poem, Maysun Hale; Stamp Design, Caroline Watts; Poster, Emilee Gille and Madison McElwee; American History, Noah Nutter, Michael Whitson (not pictured) and Drew Wright.

The following students received American History Essay Awards: Abby Cooley, an eighth-grader at Gainesville Middle School; Alaina Holeman, a fifth-grader at Fair Street International Baccalaureate World School; and Kristopher Pierce, a fifth-grader at New Holland Core Knowledge Academy.

James Palmer, commandant of cadets at North Georgia College & State University, received the Patriotism Award. Helen Martin received the Community Service Award. Nancy Baumgardner received the Chapter Certificate Award for achievement as chapter registrar. Gene Beckstein received the Medal of Honor for his contribution to the community when he founded Good News at Noon.
