Your Views: Obama doesn’t come to mind as a true leader

POSTED: April 22, 2011 8:56 p.m.

Dear President Barack Obama: So it's time to go out in the public and start raising scads of money to finance your run for re-election. In other words, millions of dollars will be set aside to make sure that your name is in the public limelight and your message is carried forth.

Our national budget is credit strapped and people are still losing ground in their battle to live - not the American dream, just to live.

I have thought of ways to save you time and effort and allow all that money to be applied to the national debt and your name and message won't be lost. See below.

Current events already serve your purpose, name recognition and your message, produced by your actions.

Every time I look at gas prices, I think of you.

Regularly, as I scan the newspapers showing the lists of mortgage foreclosures, I think of you.

As I go down the street and see all the immigrants, I think of you.

As I reflect on unemployment rates and general lack of work opportunities, I think of you.

As I read about unions dictating policy, I think of you.

As I read about corporate president's bonus packages, I think of you.

This is only a part of my list. Want more? We who have answered our nation's call, whatever it was, only ask for a fair shake and representation to give us an honest opportunity. A leader would provide that. In that case, I don't think of you.
