Prep scoreboard: White County remains tied in region

The White County High baseball team remained tied with North Hall for fourth place in region 7-AAA with a 7-6 win against Johnson on Tuesday night in Cleveland.

Brantley Gee went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs while earning his third win of the season on the mound for the Warriors.

Travis Rutkiewicz was 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored. Kevin Frederick, Bart Westmoreland, Josh Ingram and Jesse Brown each had two hits for White County (11-7, 9-5 Region 7-AAA).

David Jones was 3-for-4 with a double and Jared Stone was 2-for-3 with two runs for the Knights (7-11, 4-10).

White County plays host to Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. today. Johnson plays host to West Hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

Lakeview Academy 15, Social Circle 5

Ralston Cash hit a three-run home run and Haughton Carswell had two RBIs in an eight-run third inning for the Lions on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Cash finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Lakeview (11-6, 8-3 Region 8-A). Brett Armour was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Colin King had two hits for the Lions.

Angus Ferguson picked up the win for Lakeview Academy and was 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Lakeview Academy plays host to Tallulah Falls at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Jefferson 15, Tallulah Falls 0

Lucas Redd hit a three-run home run for the Dragons on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Blaine Skaggs, Anthony Dowker, Tyler Hill and Kyle Carter each had two hits for the Dragons (13-3, 12-0 Region 8-A).

Chris Swancey picked up the win for Jefferson with six strikeouts.

Jefferson 13, Tallulah Falls 0

Chris Beck and Tyler Hill each hit a home run while Anthony Dowker, Chase Harris and Jed Gurley each doubled for the Dragons in the second game of a doubleheader on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jake Fields recorded the win with Justin Rampley earning the save for Jefferson.

Jefferson plays host to Hebron Christian at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

SOCCER

Buford girls 4, Apalachee 0

Katherine Roadcap scored three goals and Maria Petroni scored a goal and had an assist for Class A/AA’s No. 6 ranked Lady Wolves on Tuesday in Bethlehem.

Buford (13-3-1, 6-2 Region 8-A/AA) plays host to a first round game in the Class A/AA tournament on April 25.

Lakeview Academy girls 2, Oglethorpe County 1

Anna Marchman and Chelsea Waddell each scored for the Lady Lions on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Mary London Carswell and Brianna Holcomb each had two assists for Lakeview.

Lakeview’s season is now complete.

West Hall boys 5, Lumpkin County 4

Rudy Vazquez scored three goals, Christian Suarez scored twice and Gerson Mejia had four assists for the Spartans on Tuesday night in Oakwood.

West Hall’s (9-7-2, 6-4 Region 7-AAA) regular season is now complete. Lumpkin County (11-3, 6-3 Region 7-AAA) visits North Hall at 7 p.m. today.

West Hall boys 12, Gilmer 0 (Monday)

Juan Arbelaez scored three goals and had three assists for the Spartans on Monday night in Ellijay.

Rudy Vazquez scored three goals and had an assist while Felix Ramirez scored twice for West Hall.

GOLF

Johnson 169, Flowery Branch 182, East Hall 218

Grant Cagle shot a 39 and Clint Reeves carded a 40 to lead the Knights on Tuesday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Michael Dunham shot a 44 and Kevin Bohn carded a 46 for Johnson.

Sean Ocenas led the Falcons with a 41. Ben Yu and Matt Rolin each shot a 46 for Flowery Branch.

Corey Stokes led the Vikings with a 51.

Johnson plays host to Pickens at 4 p.m. Thursday at Royal Lakes Golf Course.

North Hall 151, West Hall 172

Roger Nash and Jimmy Lloyd each shot a 35 for the Trojans on Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Flowery Branch.

Hall County champion Will England led the Spartans with a 37.

West Hall faces West Forsyth at 3:45 p.m. today at Royal Lakes. North Hall returns to action in the Region 7-AAA tournament at 4 p.m. Monday at Royal Lakes.

North Hall 4, Gainesville 2 (Monday)

The Trojans defeated Gainesville in match play to win the Principal’s Cup on Monday at Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Derek Watson and Roger Nash earned two points, Jesse Tipton and Sam Weaver earned one point and the teams of Jimmy Lloyd and Landry Haynes along with Zach Murrow and Will Story each earned half a point for North Hall.

Jake Martin and Justin Cochran earned 1 1/2 points for the Red Elephants while Andrew Reece and Chase Forrester earned half a point.

Gainesville takes part in the Golden Lion Challenge at 3:30 p.m. today at Laurel Springs Golf Course in Suwanee.

TENNIS

Hebron Christian boys 5, Lakeview Academy 0

Ben Hunter, Preston Benson and Fletcher Cline each won singles matches for Hebron Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Hebron Christian completed the sweep with two wins in doubles.

Hebron Christian girls 5, Lakeview Academy 0

Audrey Marlett, Rebekah Beaty and Jordan Poole each won singles matches for Hebron Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Hebron Christian won two more matches in doubles to complete the sweep.

West Hall boys 4, North Hall 1 (Monday)

Alan Clark and Luis Flores each won singles matches for Class AAA’s No. 8 ranked Spartans on Monday in Gainesville.

West Hall (11-4, 8-3 Region 7S-AAA) swept North Hall in doubles with wins from Derek Weatherly/Jimmy Kincaid and Kyle Weatherly/Ricky Vital.

Mitch McCray was the lone winner for the Trojans (9-7, 9-1 Region 7N-AAA) in singles.

West Hall opens up the Region 7-AAA tournament against Pickens at 11:30 a.m today at Alberta Banks Park in Oakwood. North Hall faces the winner of today’s West Forsyth/Flowery Branch match at 4 p.m. today.

TRACK AND FIELD

North Hall’s Long breaks school record

North Hall’s Nick Long set a school record in the 400-meter with a time of 50.44 seconds at the Trojans’ meet against Flowery Branch, Buford and West Hall on Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

Long now holds the school record in the 400, 800, 1600 and 3200.
