Prep scoreboard: Falcons extend win streak to six

The Flowery Branch Falcons took advantage of seven walks and seven hit batters to defeat East Hall 11-3, increasing their win streak to six games on Monday.

Patrick Henry threw six strong innings, striking out six and surrendering only four hits for the Falcons (16-2, 12-2 Region 7-AAA).

Danny Price led the Falcons at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double.

Greg Palmer (1-for-3 with a home run) and Brad Stone (1-for-3 with two runs scored) also contributed on offense for Flowery Branch.

East Hall (5-13, 4-10) was led by Cody Davidson, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and Wesley Johns, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored. The Falcons look to continue their win streak when they travel to White County at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

East Hall visits North Hall at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Lumpkin County 9, Chestatee 1
James Davis pitched a complete game three-hitter on the mound and hit a solo home run at the plate in

Lumpkin County’s win against Chestatee on Monday. Daniel Abercrombie (2-for-4), Devin Dunson (1-for-1) and Blake Sargent (1-for-4) each had two RBIs for the Indians (9-8, 7-7 Region 7-AAA).

Lumpkin County plays host to Gainesville at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Soccer

Gainesville boys 3, White County 1

Caleb Turner had a goal and assist to keep the Red Elephants in the hunt for a state playoff berth.

Gainesville (8-7-1, 6-4) also received goals from Irving Salgado and Gabriel Osorio and are now tied with Johnson for fourth place in the area standings.

Gainesville’s area schedule is now complete and will finish the regular season with a trip to Grayson to take on the Class AAAAA Rams at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

White County visits Hart County at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Gainesville girls 3, White County 0

The Lady Red Elephants increased their chances to earn the No. 2 seed in Area 7-AAA with a shutout against White County on Monday.

Gainesville (12-4, 8-2) is now in sole possesion of third place in the area, and barring the outcome of tonight’s Chestatee and Flowery Branch game, could hold the tiebreaker in fewest goals allowed in area competition.

Gisselle Lopez, Racquel Castillo and Gracie McGarity (first lifetime goal) all scored for Gainesville.

Freshman Megan Runkle recorded 13 saves for the Lady Warriors (6-9, 3-7).

Gainesville visits Grayson at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and White County visits Hart County, also at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Golf

West Hall girls 110, Habersham Central 117

Hannah Derthick carded a 52 and Savannah Rowe shot a 58 to lead West Hall past Habersham Central on Monday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Hannah Whitlock shot a 56 and Taylor Peeples carded a 61 to lead the Lady Raiders.
West Hall plays host to North Forsyth at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Royal Lakes Golf Club.

Lumpkin County boys 307, White County 319

Adam Despres shot a team-low 72 as Lumpkin County defeated White County on Monday at Mossy Creek.

Aaron George and Everett Huntsinger both shot a 77 and Ben Jarrard carded an 81 for the Indians.

White County was led by John Luna, who also carded a 72.

Lumpkin County plays host to West Forsyth at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Achasta Golf Club.

Tennis

West Hall boys 4, North Hall 1

Alan Clark and Luis Flores won in singles and the doubles teams of Derek Weatherly/Jimmy Kincaid and Kyle Weatherly/Ricky Vital swept the double matches to lead West Hall (11-4) past North Hall on Monday.

North Hall’s lone victory was by Mitch McCray.

The regular season is complete for both teams.

West Hall plays Pickens in the first round of the Region 7-AAA tournament at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, while North Hall opens up the region tournament at 4 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of the West Forysth/Flowery Branch match. Both games will be played at the Bobby Bailey Tennis Center at Alberta Banks Park.
