Cody Bird is in first place at 16.46 pounds after the first day of the season-opening Bass Pro Shops PAA Tournament Series at Lake Lanier on Thursday.
"It was tough but a pretty good day," Bird said. "I'm hoping it gets a little better each day."
Takahiro Omori (15.68 pounds) is currently in second, while David Hendrick (15.18) is third. Aaron Martens (14.82) sits in fourth, with Don Seger (14.62) in fifth.
Day Two of the tournament is set to begin at 7 a.m. Friday, with the weigh-in scheduled for 3 p.m., at Sunset Cove at Lake Lanier Islands resort.
