Woman killed in wreck on Ga. 254

POSTED: March 22, 2011 12:03 a.m.

A Cleveland woman died Monday morning in a car accident on Ga. 254, in which she was ejected from the vehicle.

Amanda Darlene King, 36, was traveling on Ga. 254 near Westmoreland Road about 9 a.m. when her car veered off the White County road and hit an embankment, Georgia State Patrol officials said.

Jared Baker, GSP communications officer, said the patrol does not yet know why King lost control of her vehicle. The accident is under investigation.

Coroner Ricky Barrett pronounced King dead at the scene, he said. The road was closed until about 11 a.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Barrett Funeral Home chapel in Cleveland. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
