RICHMOND, Va. — Cam Long scored 15 points and Andre Cornelius had 12 to lead a balanced attack as George Mason beat Georgia State 68-45 in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament Saturday.

The top-seeded Patriots (26-5), who won their 16th straight, limited Georgia State to five second-half field goals and took command with a 22-2 run that opened a 58-36 lead with seven minutes remaining.

The Panthers (12-19), playing their second game under interim coach Paul Graham because Rod Barnes was fired at the end of the regular season, had scoring droughts of 61/2 minutes in the first half and 71/2 minutes in the second, when they connected on just 5 of 23 shots.

Eric Buckner led the Panthers with 10 points and Marques Johnson had nine. The second half drought came after the Panthers had closed to within 36-34.

Georgia State had 21 turnovers, the Patriots just six.
