Annie Sellick, resident vocalist with the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, is heading to Gainesville for an intimate evening of music.

Friday, Sellick will become the latest performer to participate in The Arts Council's Evenings of Intimate Jazz series.

She will be accompanied by her husband, Pat Bergeson, on guitar, Justin Varnes on drums and Matt Kaminski on the organ.

Sellick has performed with the Nashville Symphony Pops Orchestra and artists like Bela Fleck, Jeff Coffin and Rod McGaha. As a beginning performer, critics noted Anita O'Day and Carmen McCrae as obvious influences, but these days, Sellick has developed her own unique style.

She is said to have an "innate ability to make everyone in the room feel like she's performing just for them."

She has also released four CDs on her own label, Chalice Music, Inc.

Her Gainesville show is set for 8 p.m. at the Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center, 331 Spring St. NW, Gainesville. Tickets are $30 per person, $25 per person for groups of six or more.

Admission includes complimentary glasses, ice, setups, coffee and light snacks.

The jazz series includes four more monthly performances. The Kevin Bales Trio will be performing in February, Sasha Masakowski and Musical Playground in March, Morgan Guerin Quintet in April and Steve Cunningham in May.

For more information about the series, or to purchase tickets, call 770-534-2787 or visit the Arts Council website.
