TENNESSEE WESLEYAN 54, BRENAU 53
: Amy Jo Castor hit a pair of free throws with no time left on the clock Monday night to lift the Lady Bulldogs to a win over the Golden Tigers on Monday.

Gabby Harvey (14 points, 11 rebounds) and Nikki Reed (13 points, 11 rebounds) led Brenau (8-3), while Tanya Khudiakova added 11 points and four blocks.

Brenau led 26-19 at the half before Tennesse Wesleyan (10-3) battled back to tie the score at 30. The Tigers took a 53-52 lead with 2.7 seconds left in the back-and-forth game before Castor’s free throws delivered the win to the Bulldogs.

“I was really pleased with our defensive effort, particularly in the first half,” Brenau coach Gary Bays said. “We continue to struggle offensively, both around the basket and from long range, and that has to improve if we hope to contend in the conference.”

Brenau will open play in the Southern States Athletic Conference when it hosts Brewton Parker at 2 p.m. Saturday.
