The Stations of the Cross, also called the Way of the Cross, is a Catholic devotion depicting the events in the last hours of Jesus - the Passion and death of Christ.

A person making the Way of the Cross will stop at each of 14 stations to pray and meditate before moving on to the next station.

Many Catholic churches perform re-enactments of the Stations of the Cross the week before Easter, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. Saint Michael Catholic Church leads such a re-enactment each year on Good Friday. This year's event, held at Laurel Park, was attended by hundreds.

Saint Michael also offers a Virtual Stations of the Cross on its Web site, with accompanying prayers for each station.
