North Georgia names new athletic director

POSTED: December 7, 2010 2:26 p.m.

Lindsay Reeves, who has been serving as the North Georgia College & State University acting athletic director since June, is taking over the position on a full-time basis, the school announced Tuesday.

Reeves, who has been at North Georgia for 10 years, was one of several finalists for the job. She takes over for Randy Dunn, who retired last summer after 28 years.

Lindsay Reeves is an excellent choice to lead North Georgia athletics into the future," university president David Potter said in a statement released by the school. "I know that she will continue to build on the outstanding athletic and academic success that our student athletes have demonstrated since moving into NCAA competition."

Reeves previously served as associate director of athletics and senior women's administrator and was instrumental in guiding North Georgia through the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II competition. As director, Reeves will oversee the 10 NCAA Division II sports at North Georgia, all of which compete in the Peach Belt Conference.

"I am extremely honored to be selected from the impressive pool of candidates," Reeves said. "I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to lead the Department of Athletics as we continue to compete for National Championships and make a name for ourselves across the country."
