With Thanksgiving behind him, singer John Berry is gearing up for his annual Christmas concert tour.

"This is the 15th year that I've done the tour. It started out as just a Christmas concert at (my) church in Athens, but it grew from just my church fellowship to people coming from all over," Berry said.

"After I recorded ‘O' Holy Night,' the Christmas concert really took off and we decided to do a 10-city tour. It continues to grow; this year we're stopping in around 30 different cities."

One of the stops of the tour happens to be in Gainesville, specifically at the Brenau University Pearce Auditorium, 550 Washington St.

Milton Martin Honda will be presenting the Gainesville leg of the John Berry Christmas Show, which is at 8 p.m. Friday.

Tickets for the show are $25 to $30 and they're going fast.

"All of the proceeds for the show will benefit Challenged Child and Friends," said state Sen. Butch Miller, who owns the Honda dealership.

"We still have around 20 tickets left. We sold out last year and we hope to do it again this year. It's for a great cause."

Berry will begin the show with selections from his previously released CDs.

"I'll open with songs that I've had on the radio over the years, but I will also be performing some of my more recent album cuts," Berry said.

Those new cuts will include songs from his "Made in America" album, which doesn't come out until next year.

After intermission, Berry will get into his religious tribute.

"This isn't a holiday show, it's a Christmas show," Berry said.

"It's about Jesus and the true reason for this season. The show is a lot of fun. I just love touring the country, and sharing the spirit of Christmas."
