Former professional wrestler Lex Luger spoke Nov. 4 at Truett-McConnell Chapel.

Luger gave a testimony about his life and how God has brought him to where he is today. He recounted the story of an injury that left him with temporary paralysis.

"God showed me that there is strength through weakness," he stated.

Luger encouraged students, faculty, and staff to not live life for themselves but rather for Christ.

"Let God fulfill his purpose in you and not what you think your purpose is" he said.

Whitney Smith of Dahlonega recently was selected to take part in the Miss Junior Teen Atlanta pageant, scheduled for Nov. 21.

The Miss Junior Teen division, one of four divisions for girls ages 7 to 19, will have contestants modeling casual and formal wear. She then will display her personality and interviewing skills with the judges.

The pageant winner will represent Atlanta in the national competition in Orlando, Fla. More than $60,000 in prizes will go to the winner.

Smith will compete with the support of local businesses, organizations and individual sponsors.

Anyone wishing to become a sponsor may call the pageant coordinator at 800-565-9015.
