Waffle House victimized by 3 robbers, 1 with gun

POSTED: March 23, 2008 5:01 a.m.

A Waffle House clerk was robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday morning, Gainesville Police said.

Lt. Brian Kelly said three men entered the Waffle House restaurant on Pentee Drive off U.S. 129 South at about 3:55 a.m. One of the men pointed a gun in the face of a clerk and demanded money, Kelly said.

The woman turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the three men left, driving off in a white car in an unknown direction, Kelly said. No one was hurt in the robbery.

The suspects were described as black males in their early 20s, tall with slender builds. One was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

The crime did not have any obvious connections to other Gainesville robberies, Kelly said. He said it was "a possibility" that the robbers were from out of town, given the crime’s proximity to the Interstate 985 exit about a block away.
