An Atlanta man faces two cocaine charges after the Hall County Multi Agency Narcotics Squad found 15 kilograms of cocaine in a storage unit in Buford.

Roberto Perez-Mendoza, 32, was arrested in Atlanta after a two-week drug investigation and was charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

"On Oct. 8 our K-9 officer was conducting training with his dog at a mini-storage facility when the dog indicated on a certain unit," said MANS commander Lt. Scott Ware. "We obtained a search warrant and found the 15 kilograms inside."

Perez-Mendoza, who used the storage unit in Buford, was arrested Sunday without incident and is still in the Hall County Jail.

"Our K-9 officer trains his dog throughout Hall County in different environments, and we got lucky on this one," Ware said.

Officials estimate the cocaine's street value at close to $1.5 million.
