Dr. Elizabeth Ellen Richwine and Dr. John Stewart Cooke were united in marriage at 7 p.m. Nov. 11, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Winters Richwine Jr. of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Elbert Cooke of Chapin, S. C.

The Rev. Dr. Terry E. Walton and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth W. Kelly performed the ceremony. Organist Mr. David Keith Jefcoat, vocalist Mrs. Michelle Turner Alexander, violinists Mrs. Heather Strachan and Mrs. Elizabeth Jobson, violist Mr. Edie Benson, cellist Mrs. Mary Alice Swope and trumpeter Dr. Ed Sandor presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her parents. The bride's friends Mrs. Mary Carmichael Millington of Boston and Mrs. Rebecca Hosford Roberts of Atlanta were matrons of honor. The bride's friend Miss Jessica Brooke Miller of Atlanta, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom's sister Miss Erin Lynne Cooke of Seneca, S.C.; the bride's friends Dr. Brook Brown Corbett of Atlanta; Dr. Amy Boriskie Hair of Charlottesville, Va.; Dr. Kelly Withers West of Chicago, Ill.; and Dr. Kelly Miller Lathem of Gainesville.

The groom's father was the best man. Groomsmen were the groom's friends Mr. Jerry Arthur Brannon of Union, S.C.; Dr. Gregory Allen Johnson of Greenville, S.C.; Mr. Kevin Bishop Kelly of Clemson, S.C.; Dr. Mathew Scott Springs of Charleston, S.C.; Mr. Daniel Scott Parker of Waycross; Mr. Weston Lee Rice of Charleston, S.C.; and the bride's brother Mr. Samuel Winters Richwine III of Atlanta.

The bride carried a handkerchief that belonged to her late aunt Sally Short Mabbett. She had sixpences in her shoes that were gifts from Mrs. Nell Wiegand, Sallie Carmichael, Sarah Bell and Mary Millington. The kneeling pillow was made from the bride's mother's wedding gown.
The groom's parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville on the eve of the wedding.

The bride's parents gave a reception at the Chattahoochee Country Club in Gainesville following the ceremony. Mrs. Erin Carter Hester, Mrs. Laura Delong Laibe , Dr. Jennifer Layton Peterson and Mrs. Janna Jessup Mallis were program attendants. Dr. Anna Katherine Duckworth was the scripture reader. Mr. William Christopher Davidson was the wedding coordinator and Mrs. Jane Livingston Carpenter was the church hostess.

Following a wedding trip to Bora Bora Island, French Polynesia, the couple resides in Augusta.
