Dahlonega robbery suspect pleads guilty

POSTED: March 16, 2008 5:01 a.m.
The second of two suspects in an armed robbery and assault at a Dahlonega convenience store pleaded guilty this week, officials said.

Robert Jacob Mallard, 28, pleaded guilty to armed robbery in Lumpkin County Superior Court and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, Lumpkin County Sheriff's Capt. Jason Stover said.

Mallard and 41-year-old Richard Green were charged in the March 9, 2005 robbery of the BP convenience store at the intersection of Longbranch Road and Ga. 52. Authorities say the two men entered the store wearing masks and took an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint before pistol-whipping a clerk in the parking lot.

Green earlier pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to five years in prison, Stover said.
