Hall County 4-H members Haley Woodard, left, a senior, and Courtney Woodard, a junior, recently competed at the 4-H Southern Regional Horse Show in Clemson, S.C. Both girls qualified to compete in the English and Western divisions. Haley Woodard also competed in the contesting division, and received 6th place in Western pleasure, 15th place in Western horsemanship, 4th place in barrel racing and 6th place in public speaking demonstration.

Sam's Club of Oakwood donated $100 gift cards to ten teachers at Martin Technology Academy on Sept.17. These gift cards will be used to purchase more technology or science materials for the classrooms.



Shelly Lovell Pound of Gainesville, a first-year student in the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, participated in the Colleges White Coat Ceremony held recently in UKs Memorial Hall. During the ceremony, 58 students received white coats representing their entry into the dental profession as student dentists. Dental faculty also welcomed students to the dental profession as colleagues and challenged them to make a commitment toward gaining the knowledge and compassion necessary to become outstanding dentists.



The chemistry department at North Georgia College & State University has earned accreditation from the American Chemical Society, a designation held by only nine other schools in the University System of Georgia. The designation means that graduates of the department now are eligible for admission as members of the society.
ACS, founded in 1876, is a society for those employed in all fields of chemistry and sciences that involve chemistry as well as undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in chemistry fields.
