City working on water main break

POSTED: March 4, 2008 5:00 a.m.

Residents in the Longstreet Hills subdivision may have muddy water when they turn on the taps this afternoon.

Gainesville Public Utilities Department has confirmed a water main break that happened today on Glenwood Drive.

The break happened around 1:30 p.m. and the utilities department was able to fix the broken line and restore water to customers in the Longstreet Hills subdivision in three hours.

Currently, the department is flushing the lines to clear them of any debris. The process could take a couple of hours, said Kelly Randall, director of Gainesville’s Public Utilities Department.

Randall advises water customers in the area who continue to experience cloudy water to call the department’s after-hours number 770-535-6877.
