The Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center Foundation was awarded a $10,000 grant by the National Trust for Historic Preservation from its Cynthia Woods Mitchell Fund for Historic Interiors.

The grant will be used to preserve the rare, historic folk art paintings found in the Chesser-Williams House, one of the oldest, surviving homes in Gwinnett County. The home was built in the mid 1800s and still sits on its original foundation stones.

The home was deeded to the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center Foundation in 2008 and will be relocated to the campus of the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center. Once restored, the Chesser-Williams House will be used as a teaching tool to showcase life in early Gwinnett.

Two-year-old Bailey Grace Wright won the title of Supreme Supporter at a recent Southern Grace pageant. Her prize came following the support of employees at the Wrigley/Mars company, who donated more than 1,500 items to the Herobox organization. Items donated included toothpaste, beef jerky, deodorant, popcorn, pens, batteries and magazines.
Bailey has other family members in the Army, with a cousin serving two tours of duty, which helped the family collect the items, according to her mother, Laura.

Bailey is the daughter of Chad and Laura Wright of Lula.
