Ayanna Griffith, a second-grader at Enota Multiple Intelligences Academy, holds her poster that recently won second place in the third-grade division of the Woodsy Owl and Smokey Bear poster contest sponsored by the Garden Club of Georgia. Adeline Bryant, a second-grader, won first place and her poster will go on to the National Garden Clubs to be judged. Crabapple Garden Club is the local sponsor.

The Lanier Charter Career Academy DECA chapter recently competed at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Louisville, Ken. More than 12,000 students from the United States, Canada and several other countries participated in the competition.  

 

Lance Pulliam, a junior at Chestatee High School, and Carolina Lopera, a senior from Flowery Branch High School, placed first in the Hospitality and Tourism Operations Research category. Morgan Barron, a senior at Flowery Branch, and Eliza Paris, a senior at North Hall High School, placed second in Internet Marketing Business Plan. Danielle Miller, a senior at Flowery Branch, placed in the top 10 for Learn and Earn with her presentation on the Design 360 student-ran promotions lab. Hayley Wells, a senior at Lanier Career Academy, placed in the top 16 in Entrepreneurship Participating Independent for her business plan for a bridal consulting firm.
Other members of the LCCA DECA chapter placing in the top 20 percent of competitors include Ellie Forrester, KayLynn Samples Amy Edmonds, Hailey Smith, Alyssa Preslar, Cydney Stephens and Brittany LeBlanc.
DECA is an international organization for high school students in marketing, management, hospitality and entrepreneurship. The Lanier Charter Career Academy DECA has students from across Hall County who attend the charter class programs in hospitality and tourism marketing, and interactive marketing and advertising.
