ATLANTA — Janie Mitchell scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Georgia Tech to an 82-28 win over Savannah State Tuesday night to snap the Yellow Jackets’ two-game losing streak.

Mitchell hit a couple of jumpers to help Georgia Tech (19-5) take a 6-0 lead. Two free throws by Patrice Robinson for Savannah State (12-13) reduced the lead to 6-4 with 16:26 to play in the half, the closest the Tigers could come.

“I was very pleased with our defensive effort tonight and especially our bench,” Georgia Tech coach MaChelle Joseph said. “We look forward to a couple days off to get mentally and physically prepared for our final four Atlantic Coast Conference games.”

The Yellow Jackets led 39-16 at halftime and continued to pull away through the second half. Brigitte Ardossi’s two free throws with 12:46 left completed a 13-0 Tech run, making the score 55-18.
Iasia Hemingway added 13 points for Tech. Antoinette Williams scored 10 for Savannah State.
